CNC Machine Operator & Programmer

Our client located in that Port Kells area of north Surrey is seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator & Programmer with strong hands-on skills in both milling and lathe operations. The ideal candidate will be capable of programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines independently with minimal supervision to produce high-precision components for various industrial applications.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC milling machines and CNC lathes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies for different materials.
  • Perform machine offsets, program edits, troubleshooting, and adjustments to maintain accuracy.
  • Conduct first-off and in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Maintain tight tolerances and ensure components meet quality standards.
  • Perform machine setup changeovers efficiently for different jobs.
  • Maintain accurate production records and follow shop safety practices.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes.

 

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience operating and programming CNC mills and lathes.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM systems (GibbsCAM).
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, speeds/feeds, and material properties.
  • Skilled in using measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and height gauges.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.

 

Pay range of $35- $45/ hour depending on skills and experience.
