Overview:
Reporting to the Sr. Supply Chain Procurement Manager, the Buyer will be responsible for supporting material cost management within master data, and assisting with new product development for secondary and tertiary packaging materials, labels, and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) supplies and services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Packaging Materials (Secondary & Tertiary):
- Manage and upload quotations on to the system with the IT team.
- Support new material product development in secondary and tertiary packaging categories.
- Generate and Issue POs (e-mail) for materials needed.
- Manage project trackers for all sample requesting.
- Follow up & confirm ETA date for material & update ERP system.
- Monitor past due POs & contact suppliers for updates.
- Assist in obtaining proper paperwork to support receipts (CofC/CofA), as needed.
- Obtain quotes for new materials, including MOQ, lead time & price breaks.
- Assist in alternate sourcing of material, as needed.
MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations):
- Creating purchase orders
- Finding cost-effective sources for supplies
- Negotiating with vendors and suppliers for pricing, lead times and quality
- Analyzing competing offers
- Monitoring inventory levels
- Keeping excellent communication flows with internal departments
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years (junior level) or 3–5 years (intermediate level) of relevant experience
- College / University degree
- Microsoft Office skills – Outlook, Excel, Word
- Detailed oriented
- Good communication skills, both verbal & written
- Good organizational skills
- Knowledge in paper carton and/or label packaging an asset
- Dynamic, meticulous and effective
- Ability to perform multiple tasks in parallel
- Excellent teamwork skills
