THE OPPORTUNITY
2 North is the Medical Surgical floor of GBGH, featuring 35 full beds and 2 overflow spaces. The Registered Nurse (RN) will collaborate with a dynamic team of healthcare professionals to deliver outstanding patient care to a diverse range of patients recovering from surgical procedures and managing various medical conditions with dedication and expertise. From post-operative recovery to the management of acute medical conditions, the 2 North Medical Surgical floor is equipped to handle a wide spectrum of cases. Focusing on holistic healing, the RN will strive to ensure the well-being and comfort of patients throughout their journey. As a valued member of the crew, the RN’s role is essential in upholding the high standards of care that define our 2 North Medical Surgical floor. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:
- Current certificate of registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Must be compliant with College of Nurses quality assurance standards
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification
- Experience in post-surgical care is considered an asset
- Completion of a Medication Administration Course an asset
- Completion of Coronary Care 1 Certificate an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with all patients, physicians, staff, and visitors
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development
- Willingness to participate in process improvement
- Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for patients and families as well as other members of the healthcare team within a challenging and exciting health care environment
- Commitment to customer service and teamwork
- Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers
- Excellent clinical, decision making and critical thinking skills
- Ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced working environment
- Demonstrated consistent punctuality and attendance record, maintaining a high level of reliability and commitment to performing duties with efficiency and effectiveness in previous roles

- As a partially designated French speaking organization, French verbal and written communication skills are considered an asset in this position

COMPENSATION

- Hourly rate of pay $39.07 - $56.00, plus 3-weeks vacation

HOURS OF WORK
Permanent Full Time. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA collective agreement.
