As a Journeyperson / Gas Fitter, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in commercial and multi-family residential projects. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, adherence to safety and building codes, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively on job sites. What You’ll Do
• Install, repair, and maintain plumbing/gas fitting systems and equipment
• Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on plumbing and gas fitting systems
• Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications for plumbing systems to ensure installations meet industry standards and local codes
• Ensure all installations comply with safety and code regulations
• Work in both multi-family residential and commercial buildings
• Supervise apprentices and ensure all company policies and procedures are followed
• Install and replace piping systems and components, including taps, sinks, toilets, hot water tanks, zone valves, furnace components, and pump pipe systems
• Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, or welding equipment
• Assess pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
• Locate and mark positions for pipe connections
• Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes and safety standards
• Provide clear service support and communicate professionally with customers regarding diagnostics, repairs or replacements, job scope, timelines, and costs
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure proper cleanup after completing a job
• Document all services performed, including parts used, work completed, and recommendations for future maintenance
Qualifications and Skills:
• Valid Journeyperson Plumber/Gas Fitter certification (Red Seal certification required)
• Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certification
• Current Standard First Aid certificate
• Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills
• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
• Ability to visualize a finished product from documentation
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential
• Teamwork is crucial; candidates must be able to build relationships and work collaboratively
• A strong commitment to personal safety and team safety is necessary
• Excellent critical thinking skills and attention to detail are important
• Physical fitness is required, including the ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions
