Machine Operator – Cabinet Shop
Our company is a leading custom cabinet manufacturer in Niagara Falls for over 60 years. We are currently looking to fill the position of Machine Operator.
Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Operator will primarily be responsible for operating machines with the purpose of producing and building custom cabinets.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machines to perform precision, non-repetitive woodworking, machining, sawing, edge banding and routing operations
- Operate and tend automated assembling equipment and fixed automation equipment
- Perform initial part inspections and make necessary adjustments to ensure part conformance
- Monitor the machining process and make real-time corrections to maintain quality and efficiency
- Detect equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine, controls, or control media within capabilities as required to ensure quality of production
- Read and interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints and engineering drawings
- Use measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges
- Maintain and verify machine calibration and troubleshoot any equipment issues
- Gather materials required for production
- Remove parts or completed products from conveyors
- Ensure outputs meet production schedules, safety and quality standards, as well as customer needs
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on all equipment and tools
- Mark, record, and report defective products
- Maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at end of day
- Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity, product quality, and safety
- Communicate with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality, and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in a manufacturing-related field
- 3+ years of related experience, preferably with wood
- Certifications or licenses appropriate to manufacturing industry
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
- Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods and tools required in various cabinet construction processes
